Where the locals go on Sanibel Island

Some things just stick out like the fishing pier, beach shelling, bicycle tours, and general sightseeing excursions in Sanibel and Captiva Islands. What a fun place for a summer vacation. The beach there by the lighthouse is so fun for watching dolphins just off the shore.

Do Bring your Fishing Pole for sure. Go here for Swimming and the Fishing Pole Pier Park. We love the scenic Family Spots on Sanibel Island.

Sanibel has a lot more than Beach Play. Nature is everywhere and that is truly an unexpected pleasure when you vacation for a few days in captiva or Sanibel. You can even see the turtles lay their eggs in may, when you walk the beach. Nature just happens all around.

Love that Lighthouse Pier fishing for trout. We have had good luck fishing early in the morning on incoming tide. I am ready to start my vacation early and am bringing my fishing pole to use during our stay at the Bel-Air Beach Club for a week!

Fishing is A Sanibel Island Vacation Tradition. The Public Beach area is about five hundred hundred yards away, on the other side of lighthouse. There are several metered parking lots at this tip of Sanibel Island. Fishing on the Island is Easy.

The coolest spot for Dolphin Sightings

It is not a really large Pier, but this is all we need. It always has 10 to 20 people on it, plus another 10 or so fishing off the Shoreline. You can see dolphins swimming by here easy on sunny days.

Fishing Pier

We got to paddle some kayaks, what a family adventure that was on the waters of the Great Calusa Blueway. There is a nice hiking trail through the wetlands at Ding Darling park. Watersports play is so nice and then you get the nice happy hours.

You can even take a Fishing pole and fish from the Beach Shoreline. For big fish, take a charter boat heading to the cayo costa or Boca Grande. What fun, we love these two fine islands. Do not miss a meal at the classic Doc Ford's Rum Bar restaurant.
