During the day in Key West you are going to want to spread yourself around and explore as much of the island as possible. The late afternoon and evening time will typically be devoted to lower Duval, Mallory Square, and the sunset parties. Rich Area for Playful Sightseeing We did not realize that John Simonton owned the island and later sold it to a group with names like Green E, Fleming, and Whitehead. It is all just so entertaining.

More Facts & Florida Keys Fun Stuff We thought it was very interesting the way the Cigar Industry came and went! Yes, they used Key West's climate and port system to replicate what was so successful in Cuba. Over the years, unions forced many cigar business owners to Tampa. Ultimately, the main Key West Cigar Industry died, gone forever.
