You should bring your family out for fun, it is just minutes away from Old Northeast, St. Pete Beach, and Downtown St. Petersburg. They should offer kayak rentals, and tons of people bring their own. We would have rented some ourselves but it was not available on our trip. Maybe it is only on weekends, we went on a Tuesday Afternoon.
